Bloodhound gang 'Kiss it where it smells funny':

Our first idea for the song we were going to use for the music video was 'Kiss it where it smells funny' by bloodhound gang because it was a band which is well known but the single doesn't get the recognition it deserved therefore i thought we could put our own interpretation of the song. As the genre of the song is comedy rock/punk our idea was to do a spoof or parody of the official video that has been released for the song to represent the bands immature attitude towards the song. However when we tried to lip sync the song on the camcorder it was to hard to lip mime the oringal song so we decided to use 'Bob' by Rancid instead.

My chosen song - Rancid-Bob

This is the song we are going to use for our music video which is 'Bob' by rancid but a NOFX cover of the single. We decided to choose this song because it is not well known or mainstream therefore it hasn't got a official music video for the track meaning we can have our own interpretation on what the song represents with out anyone disagreeing with it. In addition it was a band that we both take pleasure from listening to and can relate to the genre of the song as we listen to similar styles to Rancid therefore it was the perfect song to display a music video for that maybe one day will be their official video.

This video gave me the inspiration to use the iPod idea by filming someones else lips miming the song lyrics and using the iPod as their own mouth because i believed it could fit into the genre of music video we were going for. However i adapt the idea to tie in with my music video and to suit my genre more as this video is to dance music not pop punk.

Inspiration-Liam Lynch: 'United states of whatever'

This music video of Liam Lynchs 'United States of Whatever' shows that an green screen can be used effectively to create a music video purely using it. This is a low budget production for allowing less established bands with not alot of money to spend on creating and promoting their music videos. This video was our inspiration for our green screen rough cut video to start the intro of my music video on the green screen as this creates a comedy effect like in the 'United States of whatever' as it was appropriate for the band we were using 'Rancid' as it represents how they don't always take things seriously. This would allow us to keep the audience entertained by using illusions on the green screen to get the meaning of the song across in an unique and original way to give the audience gradifacation. Finally it would represent the pop punk genre well by using an orginal way to display the talent of the band and their new products via the music video.

Rule of thirds video

This video on rules of thirds taught me about how the framing and composition of a camera shot is important ans can look more attractive to the audience if you follow the 'rule of thirds'. The PowerPoint illustrates in more detail.

The Tripods, an Exposè video allows to see how to hold a shot steady is an essential skill if you want to create a professional looking music video. As well as this it shows you how to use the tripod by attaching the camera/camcorder on and how to take it off with out damaging it.

Tripod trix

This video of 'tripod trixs' is a tutorial of some great techniques for using a tripod to your advantage while filming my music video as it not just for keeping your camcorder on. The video shows you range of techniques you can use to improve your framing shots to make the video look smoother and more interesting to the audience by creating different effects. For instance the 'dolly slide' effect which allows you to create suspense to a scene or emphasis on an object of importance to your video or just to add motion to your scene so the stop any static shots.Another technique that this video taught me was the 'crane' that can add drama to a scene you are trying to shoot.However the video also showed me how to improve a technique such as panning a shot smoothly the way the tricks works is to use a rubber band elasticity to move the camera slowly one way to create a perfect pan. Finally 'tripod trixs' shows how a tripod can become a steady cam to keep all the shots still by having a mobile camera that can move anywhere. Overall this 'Tripod trix' helped me improve my music video vastly as it showed me how important a tripod can be to a film production.
